Oilers Crush Cavaliers, Win 23-2

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team came away with a convincing 23-2 win over Walsh University on April 22 in Canton, Ohio. The victory snaps a 5-game losing streak and evens the Oilers record at 7-7 on the season.

The Oilers, who are now 4-5 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contests, jumped out to a 16-1 lead at the break and out-scored the Cavaliers 7-1 in the final period for the win. They held a 34-9 advantage in the shot department and held a 19-8 edge in draw controls.

Junior Kyra Bradley had a big game with five goals and four assists while eight other Oilers scored two goals apiece as Findlay lit up the scoreboard for a season-high 23 goals.

Freshman Graceann Conte, senior Taylor Trice, sophomore Olivia Sherman, senior Mackenzie Barnwell, senior Sarah Lankton, freshman Sandra Byerly, freshman Jacelyn Litman and freshman Hannah Peebles were each of the Findlay players to record two goals in the match.

Freshman Natalie Hartel and freshman Brie Caruso also added a goal while Peebles tallied two assists and ten draw controls.

Sophomore Rachel Heath took the victory by yielding only two goals to go along with five saves.

The Oilers will be at Lake Erie on Sunday in their next game.
