Lankton Named National Player of the Week

University of Findlay senior Sarah Lankton was tabbed the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA Division II National Player of the Week. The award was announced on May 4 on Fast Break, the IWLCA weekly broadcast.

Lankton, who was tabbed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Week on May 3, scored eight goals last week and added 16 draw controls, 11 ground balls and three caused turnovers. She began the week with seven goals and eight draws in the Oilers 13-12 win over McKendree on April 29. She then followed with one goal, one assist, eight draws and seven ground balls in Findlay's 13-11 victory over Indianapolis on May 1.

The Carmel, Ind. native ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 52 goals on the year and leads the league with 65 ground balls. She also ranks second in the conference with 95 draw controls and second in the league in caused turnovers with 26.

Lankton and the Oilers will be back in action again on May 6 when they travel to Allendale, Mich. to face Tiffin in the semifinals of the GLIAC Tournament. The game is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
