Lankton Named GLIAC Midfielder of the Year

Senior Sarah Lankton was tabbed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Midfielder of the Year for the third consecutive season on May 5 at the league tournament in Allendale, Mich.

Lankton, who was also tabbed first team all-conference for the fourth straight year, native ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 52 goals on the year and leads the league with 65 ground balls. She also ranks second in the conference with 95 draw controls and second in the league in caused turnovers with 26.

The Carmel, Ind. native was a first team all-region performer for the Oilers last season and was also named third team All-American.

In addition, junior Kyra Bradley, senior Mackenzie Barnwell and sophomore Natalie Fury were each tabbed second team all-GLIAC.

Bradley, who was tabbed the GLIAC Attacker of the Year last season, ranks fifth in the league with 51 goals. The Port Coquitlam, British Columbia native earned first team all-conference honors for the Oilers in 2014 and 2015.

Barnwell has accumulated 24 goals and four assists for Findlay this season while Fury has won 40 draws to go along with 21 ground balls and ten caused turnovers.

Freshman Hannah Peebles and senior Elisabeth Montalvo were also rewarded for their efforts this season as each garnered honorable mention all-conference accolades.

Peebles has scored 15 goals and added 13 assists in her inaugural season while Montalvo has been steady on defense for Findlay all season long with 12 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
