Duffy Resigns After Five Seasons

Findlay, OH – University of Findlay head women's lacrosse coach Julie Duffy has announced that she will resign from her position at the helm of the women's lacrosse program, effective July 31. She has accepted a position as the head coach at Merrimack College, a Division II school located in North Andover, Massachusetts. The Warriors compete in the Northeast-10 Conference.   

"I have greatly enjoyed the five years I have spent at the University of Findlay. It has been a privilege and pleasure to start this program", said Duffy. "I will take what I have learned with me to Merrimack College."

Coach Duffy was hired at the inception of the women's lacrosse program in 2012 and after posting a 6-12 record in the program's first season, led the squad to 12 wins in her final season, improving the team's win total each season. In her time at Findlay, the Oilers had a 34-41 record with a 21-14 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play, qualified for the conference tournament each year, reached the semifinals of the tournament twice, and the tournament championship in 2016. She also coached 11 all-GLIAC performers, two all-region players, and one all-American. Her teams also achieved academic success as they received the Academic Honor award from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) in every season.

Duffy continued, "I would like to thank Dr. Fell for her belief and support of the women's lacrosse program over the last five years. Most importantly I would like to thank Brandi Laurita for her vision and guidance as our Athletic Director. The success that Findlay has had over the last five years has been a direct result of her leadership."

Athletic Director Brandi Laurita commented, "I want to thank Julie for her contributions to the University of Findlay and the Oilers lacrosse program. Her passion for her sport and dedication to the improvement her team is admirable. We are proud of what she has accomplished here and she leaves behind a program that has grown to be extremely competitive. We want to wish her the very best as she moves on in her career."

The search for Duffy's replacement will begin immediately.
