#4 Lindenwood Defeats Findlay 6-3

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team took a loss in their first home game of the season on Friday, March 1 against the 4th-ranked Lindenwood Lions. The Oilers are now 1-3 on the season.

Sophomore Hanna Morgan started the scoring for the day, putting one on the board for the Oilers in the 26th minute. The Lions rallied back shortly after to tie the game at 1-1 in the 24th minute. Momentum kept building for the Lions as they added three more goals to take a 4-1 lead at the half.

In the first minute of the second half, the Lions scored again to increase their lead to 5-1 over the Oilers. Freshman Madi DeVries was able to put a goal past the Lion's keeper from a pass from sophomore Allie Kasprzyk to cut the lead to three. Then freshmen Dani Dilorenzo added a goal for the Oilers to bring the score to 5-3 with eight minutes remaining in the game.

While Findlay continued to fight, the Lions kept their edge by scoring another goal to end the game at 6-3.

Senior Claire Ferrell was in net for the Oilers and made 10 big saves on the day from 16 shots and snagged three groundballs.  

Junior Brittany Stephens had three ground balls and five caused turnovers on the day. Sophomore Jordan Reineke, junior Ciara Burud, and senior Annie Painter all contributed with three caused turnovers apiece.

The Oilers will be on the road at Alabama Huntsville on Monday, March 4 at 5:00PM.
