Oilers Begin the Year Ranked 6th Nationally

The University of Findlay wrestling team will start the year as the sixth-ranked team in NCAA Division II as the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced their annual preseason poll on Friday, Oct. 19.

Individually, senior Mason True and junior Adam Walters are the top-ranked grapplers in their respective weight classes as both individuals finished second at the national championship one year ago.

True is the top-ranked wrestler in the 165-pound weight class after finishing the 2011-12 campaign with a 28-14 record.  Walters meanwhile heads the group of 184-pound wrestlers and ended last year with a 23-10 mark.

In addition, junior Ben Sergent is ranked second in the 125-pound weight class while senior Andrew Tumlin ranks seventh at 285.

Sergent placed third last year at the national championship and finished his sophomore season with a 35-11 mark while Tumlin qualified for the championship event and ended the year with a 23-13 record.
