Roughnecks Go 4-2 at Super Region 2 Duals
The University of Findlay wrestling team completed the Super Region 2 Duals on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Newberry, S.C. The Roughnecks wrestled six schools at the event and finished with a 4-2 record.
The Roughnecks began the day with a 41-6 win over Anderson. They then dropped a 24-21 decision to King before defeating Limestone by a score of 22-13. Second-ranked Newberry handed Findlay a 36-6 loss in their fourth match and then the Roughnecks responded with two wins over Coker (24-21) and Belmont Abbey (43-6) to close the afternoon.
Bradley Metz (165) and Adam Walters (174) led the Roughnecks at the event as they each posted 6-0 records. Walters was especially dominant, registering two pins, two technical falls and a major decision along the way.
Ben Sergent also had a great day, finishing with a 5-1 record in the 125-pound weight class.
The Roughnecks will return to the mat again on Feb. 1 when they will host a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) quad with Ashland, Lake Erie and Tiffin. The event will begin at 1 p.m.
