Roughnecks Earn Academic Accolades

The University of Findlay wrestling team had five individuals earn NCAA Division II Academic All-American accolades. In addition, the Roughnecks finished eighth nationally with a team grade point average of 3.271 to earn Academic All-American status.

In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, they need to have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  The student-athlete must also be in at least his second full year at his school, be a varsity  member on his team or a key reserve, demonstrate a degree of skill and have a minimum of two letters of recommendation (academic advisor and coach) submitted on his behalf.

Sophomores Bradley Metz, Schuyler Phillips and Joey White all earned second team honors while sophomores Gerald Beck and Alec Bissell each were tabbed honorable mention.

Metz carries a 3.65 GPA in Biology, Phillips has a 3.47 GPA in Pre-Physical Therapy, White has a 3.13 GPA in Hospitality Management, Beck sports a 3.67 GPA in Pre-Physical Therapy and Bissell has accumulated a 3.63 GPA in Criminal Justice.
