#16 Roughnecks to Dual in Gunnison, Co.

Visit Western State Colorado University's athletic website for all information regarding the 28th Annual Tracy Borah Duals. This will be the Roughnecks' first dual competitions of the 2017-18 season. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 6 and will begin at 9:00 am.

Across the Miles

Findlay will travel 1,459 miles to participate in the event which will be held at Western State Colorado in Gunnison, Colorado.

Nationally Ranked

There are eight teams competing in the event this weekend; four of those teams are currently ranked in the NCAA Division II Top-25. Simon Fraser is the highest ranked squad at no. 11 while Newberry checks in at no. 14, Findlay at no. 16, and the host school, Western State, is slotted at no. 17.

Individually, 13 nationally ranked Division II wrestlers will be competing and one nationally ranked Division I wrestler.

The Roughnecks

Findlay sophomore Nate Vandermeer is currently ranked no. 10 in the country at 174 pounds and leads the Roughnecks in wins this season. Vandermeer currently has a record of 19-9 on the year and has recorded a team-high seven pins. His best finish of the year came at the Michigan State Open where he took third place in the freshman/sophomore bracket.

Ranked ninth in the country in the heavyweight division, senior Mimmo Lytle has put together a record of 16-5 this season and has recorded three pins. Lytle earned back-to-back wins earlier this season as he took first at the Findlay Open and followed it up with a top finish at the Jim Koch Open.

The only other Roughneck with a tournament championship this season is senior Bradley Metz. Metz, who is ranked seventh in the country at 184 pounds, took first place at the Jim Koch Open. He has put together a record of 13-4 this season and has recorded three pins.

Findlay's top ranked wrestler is junior Alonzo Turner who is currently sixth in the country at 164 pounds. Turner has a record of 14-7 this year and has one pin. His top finish was a second place finish at the Jim Koch Open.

Sophomore James Wimer is currently ranked no. 11 in the country at 157 pounds and has a record of 14-9 this year. His top finish also came in the Jim Koch Open where he took second place.
