Roughnecks Complete Final Day of Nationals

Cedar Rapids, IA – The University of Findlay Roughnecks had two wrestlers compete in the second day of the National Championships on Saturday, March 10.

Bradley Metz represented the 184 pound division for Findlay, facing #6 Tyree Overton from St. Cloud State in his first match. Metz won in a close 1-0 decision and advanced on in the consolation bracket.

In the next round, Metz defeated Augustana's #5 Aero Amo in a 4-2 decision, securing his spot in the top eight and earning him All-American honors.

Metz dropped the following match in a 6-4 decision to California Baptist's #3 Nicholas Fiegener, leaving him to wrestle for the fifth place spot on the podium.

Jeff Remiel, ranked #9, defeated Metz in the fifth place match by major decision (11-3). Metz claimed sixth overall on the podium.

Mimmo Lytle dropped his first match in the heavyweight division, ending his run in the national tournament. Lytle was defeated by #4 ranked Caleb Cotter from Cental Oklahoma by way of a major decision (16-7).
