Oilers Come Up Short, Lose 2-1 to #21 Bellarmine

The University of Findlay women's soccer team fell 2-1 to #21 Bellarmine University on Friday, Aug. 31 in Louisville, Ky.  The loss gives the Oilers a 0-1 record on the season.

The Oilers took a 1-0 lead at the 39:32 mark of the first half after Katie Burke scored from 25-yards out on an assist from Emily Beddoes.

Findlay's defense then took over, holding the Knights scoreless until the 78:48 mark when they tied the game on a header off of a free kick.  The Knights then took the lead and the game with only 2:16 remaining in the contest when McKenzie Combs found the back of the net from close range.

The Oilers managed only two shots during the contest while Bellarmine racked up 16.  The Knights also had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks as Findlay fell to a talented Bellarmine squad for the second straight season.

Kelsea Corns made four saves for the Oilers, allowing both goals.

The Oilers will be back in action on Sunday when they face St. Joseph's College at 2 p.m. in Rensselaer, Ind.
