Oilers Come From Behind, Beat Eagles 4-3

The University of Findlay women's soccer team came from behind to beat Ashland University by a score of 4-3 in overtime on Friday, Sept. 21 in Findlay, Ohio.

After giving up the first goal to Ashland in the 18th minute of the match, Findlay struck back when Megan Gallaway found the back of the net off a lead pass from Katie Burke down the left side of the field to tie the game.

Ashland took the lead again with a goal in the beginning of the second half and then appeared to put the game away in the 80th minute with a goal to make the score 3-1.  The Oilers were not planning on going quitely however as Emily Beddoes scored a few minutes later to give Findlay hope.

With less than two minutes left in the match, Sarah Silone stepped into a shot just a few yards off the left sideline, placing the ball perfectly into the top left corner of the net to tie the score at 3-3. Then, in overtime, Findlay would prevail as Beddoes put the game away with her second goal of the match for the 4-3 win.

The Oilers held a 13-9 advantage in the shot department and their four goals were only one less than their season total of five entering the game.

Findlay's overall record moves to 1-3-1 on the season with a 1-0-1 mark in GLIAC play.

They will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 23 when the take on Ohio Dominican University at home.
