Oilers Lose to Ferris State 5-2

The University of Findlay women's soccer team lost to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Ferris State University 5-2 on Sunday, October 20 in Big Rapids, Michigan.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Nichole Boehnke scored off of an assist by Amanda Foster at the 5 minute mark. Then, at the 20 minute mark, Boehnke scored her second goal of the contest off of an assist by Casey Shauman. 

The Bulldogs extended their lead when Lindsey Scott scored off of an assist by Meredith Smith at the 28 minute mark. 

Boehnke scored her third goal of the contest at the 38 minute mark.  Her goal was assisted by Abby Meirndoff. 

The Oilers got on the board when junior Eryn Weber scored her eighth goal of the season at the 41 minute mark.  Her goal was assisted by senior Katie Burke.

The Oilers struck again when senior Sarah Silone scored off of an assist by junior Rachel Louie at the 49 minute mark. 

The Bulldogs delivered their final punch when Casey Shauman scored off of an assist by Riley Wood at the 65 minute mark. 

The Bulldogs dominated offensively with a 40-23 advantage in the shot department.

Findlay goalkeeper Samantha Trimboli took the loss in the net and had 15 saves in the process. 

The Oilers, who are now 6-6-2 on the year with a 2-4-2 mark in GLIAC play, will face GLIAC foe Malone University at DeHaven Field on Friday, October 25 at 1 p.m.
