Oilers Defeat Northwood In Overtime Thriller

The University of Findlay women's soccer team defeated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Northwood (Mich.) University 4-3 in overtime on Saturday, November 2 in Midland, Michigan. 

The Timberwolves quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Jessica Flores scored at the 1 minute mark. 

The Timberwolves extended their lead when Alyssa Tomassi scored at the 7 minute mark.  Her goal was assisted by Allie Misner. 

The Oilers got on the board when sophomore Kirsten Fruchey scored off of an assist by senior Katie Burke at the 13 minute mark. 

Alyssa Tomassi scored her second goal of the contest for the Timberwolves at the 15 minute mark. 

The Oilers bounced back when freshman Cassi Perkins scored off of an assist by junior Eryn Weber at the 61 minute mark.  Then, at the 78 minute mark, the Oilers tied it up when Perkins scored her second goal of the contest. Her goal was assisted by junior Samantha Edwards

The Oilers got the win in overtime when Fruchey scored her second goal of the game at the 91 minute mark. 

Findlay goalkeeper Samantha Trimboli picked up the overtime victory in the net and had six saves in the process. 

The Oilers had the edge offensively with a 23-16 advantage in the shot department. 

The Oilers finish their regular season with a 8-8-2 overall record, and a 4-6-2 mark in GLIAC play.
