The University of Findlay women's soccer team won their home opener against Lewis University 2-1 on Sunday, September 7 at DeHaven Field.
The Oilers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior Danielle Hart scored off of an assist by senior Eryn Weber at the 12 minute mark. Then, at the 15 minute mark, Weber scored unassisted to extend the Oilers lead against the Flyers.
Lewis threatened a comeback when Jessica Chavez scored at the 32 minute mark. The Oilers defense prevailed in the second half and prevented the Flyers to complete their comeback.
Findlay's freshman goalkeeper Madison Moore claimed the victory in the net and had seven saves in the process.
The Oilers had the edge offensively with a 16-10 advantage in the shot department.
The Oilers return to the field on Friday, September 12 when they travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to face Lee University.
