Oilers Defeat Dragons In Double Overtime 3-2

The University of Findlay women's soccer defeated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Tiffin University in a dramatic double overtime showdown 3-2 on Tuesday, October 7 in Tiffin, Ohio. 

The Oilers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when junior Kirsten Fruchey scored unassisted at the 7 minute mark. 

The Oilers extended their lead when senior Eryn Weber scored off of an assist from Fruchey at the 12 minute mark. 

Tiffin got on the board when Brittney Koester scored at the 18 minute mark.  Then, at the 20 minute mark, the Dragons tied up the contest when Lindsey Hall scored off of an assist from Veronica Zaciek. 

The Oilers claimed the dramatic victory when junior Katelyn Anderson scored the golden goal off of an assist from Fruchey at the 104 minute mark. 

Findlay goalkeeper Samantha Trimboli picked up the victory in the net and had three saves in the process. 

The Oilers dominated offensively with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks and a 24-9 advantage in the shot department. 

The Oilers, who are now 6-3 on the season with a 3-1 mark in GLIAC play, will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face GLIAC opponent Ohio Dominican University on Friday, October 10.
