Oilers Squash Yellow Jackets

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay women's soccer team defeated the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, September 27 at DeHaven Field.  This win gives the Oilers a 3-5 overall record and keeps the conference record the same at 2-3.   

The play in the first half was mostly in the middle of the field as the Oilers and Yellow Jackets fought to put the ball in the back of the net.

With ten minutes left to play in the half, sophomore Mickayla White headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick from senior Nicole Mikolcic. 

Two minutes later, the Oilers capitalized again from inside the box when freshman Sierra Peacock slotted the ball in the right post off of a pass from sophomore Marissa Swindell

The Oilers defense lead by seniors Kate Prewitt and Nicole Mikolcic kept the Yellow Jackets from having a shot on goal the first half to keep the Oilers lead 2-0.

In the first half, the Oilers had six shots with five shots on goal and the Yellow Jackets had one shot with no shots on goal.  

Nine minutes into the second half, the Yellow Jackets scored from inside the box, making it a tight game with the Oilers up 2-1.

The Oilers ended the game with eleven shots with eight shots on goal, while Cedarville had three shots with two shots on goal.

The Oilers will take the field again on Friday, September 30 at Michigan Tech for a night game at 7:00pm.
