Big Second Half Leads Oilers to Victory

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team defeated the University of Southern Indiana 5-2 on Saturday, September 2. With the win, the Oilers improve to 1-1 on the season while the Screaming Eagles fall to 1-1. It is the first time since a September 23^rd, 2012 victory against Ohio Dominican that the Oilers have scored five goals in a match.

Southern Indiana got the scoring started during the 13^th minute of the first half, but the Oilers answered just 27 seconds later with a goal by sophomore Chloe Marburger. The Screaming Eagles responded with another goal in the 14^th minute to take a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

The Oilers kicked off the scoring in the second half when junior Megan Kupetz scored with an assist from senior Jensen Kleis, one of four second half assists for Kleis. The Oilers took the lead nine minutes later with a goal from freshman Karleigh Clere, again with an assist from Kleis.

Kleis assisted on two more goals, one in the 64^th minute from sophomore Sierra Peacock and another in the 89^th minute by Kupetz.

Kupetz finished the game with two goals on four shots, and also added an assist.

Sophomore Anna Money earned the decision in the net picking up 7 saves in the game.

Kleis broke the school record with her four assists in the match. She passed Ali Weising and Janna McKinley, who each recorded three assists against Concord in 1997 and 1999, respectively.

The Oilers will be back on the pitch Wednesday, September 6, when they travel to Ohio Dominican for their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest.
