Findlay Falls 2-1 to Saginaw Valley

Saginaw, MI – The University of Findlay women's soccer team lost to Saginaw Valley State University on Sunday, September 10 in a 2-1 final. The Oilers record falls to 1-4 overall on the year.

Findlay was not able to score in the first half despite a shot on goal from freshman Karleigh Clere in the 8th minute and two corner kick opportunities in the 20th and 44th minutes of the match. The Cardinals scored twice, leaving Findlay at a 2-0 deficit heading into halftime.

After a shot attemped on goal in the 66th minute from junior Karis Dewalt, the Oilers were able to get on the board thanks to freshman Ashley Rings. In the 68th minute Rings capitalized on a penalty kick by scoring her first goal as an Oiler and cutting the Cardinal lead to one goal. Findlay was only able to attempt one more shot for the entirety of the match and the shot was blocked by Saginaw defenders.

Freshman Nicole Burke played the second half in front of the net for the Oilers and recorded four saves on the day. Sophomore Anna Money took the decision as goal keeper and recorded three saves during the first half. The Oilers attempted seven shots as a team with three of those being on goal.

The University of Findlay will be back playing on their own DeHaven Field this Thursday, September 10 hosting Lake Erie College. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference match is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
