Findlay Drops Conference Match to Lake Erie

Box Score

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay women's soccer team was defeated by Lake Erie College on Thursday, September 14 at DeHaven Field. The conference loss drops the Oilers to 0-2 in G-MAC play, and 1-5 overall for the season.

Scoring got off to an early start for Lake Erie with a goal in the 1st minute of the match. The Oilers quickly responded in the 2nd minute with an unassisted goal from freshman Karleigh Clere. That would be it for scoring the first half, even with Findlay's eight shot attemps and four shots on goal.

Second half excitement began in the 59th minute when junior Karis Dewalt found the left side of the net, giving the Oilers a 2-1 lead. The goal by Dewalt was her first of the year and was assisted by junior Claire Lasceski

The Storm would score just seconds later to tie the game 2-2, and then pulled ahead with a goal in the 72nd minute. The score of 3-2 would remain for the rest of the match.

The Oilers recorded seven shots on goal for the match and had five corner kick opportunities. Junior Nicole Burke was in front of the net for the Oilers and gathered 10 saves on the day.

Findlay will be back in action on this Saturday, September 16 when they face G-MAC opponent Ursuline College. The match has a start time of 1:00 PM at DeHaven Field.
