Oilers Drop G-MAC Contest to Malone

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team dropped a G-MAC contest to Malone University in a 2-1 final at DeHaven field on Saturday October 7. The loss drops the Oilers to a 3-10 overall record and a 2-7 record in Great Midwest play, while the Pioneers improve to a 4-4-3 overall with a 2-3-3 record in the G-MAC.

Findlay fell behind in the 33rd minute when they gave up a goal to the Pioneers. Malone extended their lead in the 40th minute, leaving the score at 2-0 going into the half.

The Oilers weren't able to find the back of the net during the first period despite their five shot attempts and three shots on goal.

The second period was dominated by defense until the Oilers got on the board in the 80th minute by way of a header from sophomore Sierra Peacock.  This was Peacock's third goal of the season.

Findlay was not able to even the score with 10 minutes remaining, leading to the 2-1 final in favor of the Pioneers.

Freshman Nicole Burke got the start in front of the net for the Oilers, recording seven saves during the contest. Sophomore Sierra Perry and junior Megan Kupetz led Findlay in shot attempts with three each.

The Oilers will be on the road for their next match when they travel to face G-MAC opponent the Lake Erie Storm. The contest is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
