Oilers Tie in Double Overtime Battle

Box Score

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team had a G-MAC matchup on Thursday, October 19 with Trevecca Nazarene University that ended in a 2-2 tie. The decision moves the Oilers to 4-11-1 overall with a 3-8-1 record in Great Midwest play while the Trojans move to to 7-4-3 (5-4-3) on the year.

The Oilers were first to score, as sophomore Sierra Peacock found the back of the net by way of an assist from sophomore Ashley Rings in the 14th minute of the contest.

That would do it for the scoring in the first half, with Findlay firing eight shots with two on goal to Trevecca's seven shots with five on goal.

Sophomore Anna Money held strong at goalkeeper for the Oilers, recording five saves during the first period.

Findlay was able to stretch the lead to 2-0 just over 13 minutes into the second half thanks to another goal from Peacock. The assist came from a corner kick by freshman Samantha Church. This was Church's third assist of the season.

With five minutes remaining, the score remained 2-0 with Findlay in full command.

The momentum shifted quickly when the Trojans scored on a header coming from a corner kick, and then executed a penalty kick just two minutes later to bring the match to a 2-2 deadlock. Regulation would not be enough, as the Trojans and Oilers head into overtime.

The first overtime period went scoreless, as Findlay was able to only get off one shot attempt on the Trojan defense.

Second period proved to be much of the same, this time the Oilers were not able to fire off any potential game-winning shots.

Money had a key save late in the second overtime period that allowed the Oilers to keep the tie as the clock ran out.

Peacock's goals were her team-leading sixth and seventh of the year and Money recorded 12 saves, just one shy of her high for the season.

Findlay will be back on the pitch this Saturday, October 21 when they host Kentucky Wesleyan in another Great Midwest contest. The match is set to begin at noon.
