Box Score

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team defeated the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers on Saturday, October 21 in a G-MAC matchup. The home victory boosted the Oilers to a 5-11-1 overall record and 4-8-1 in Great Midwest play, while the Panthers fall to 5-8-1 and 5-7-1 in the G-MAC.

It was senior day for the Oilers and before the game they honored their three seniors, Lindsey Roeth, Jensen Kleis, and Bre Parrish, for their efforts as student-athletes during their time at the university.

The Oilers had a strong start, with a goal in the 10th minute of the match from sophomore Ashley Rings. The goal came from a corner kick from freshman Samantha Church and was also assisted by freshman Lindsey Ahbe.

Kentucky Wesleyan leveled the score midway through the period, leaving the score 1-1 going into halftime.

The second half was a defenisive struggle for both teams, with the first 38 minutes of the period going scoreless.

That changed when freshman Madison VanCucha fired a shot off of the cross bar, which ricocheted in the direction of senior Jensen Kleis.

Kleis let another shot at the goal loose, this time finding the left side of the net for what would be the game-winner for the Oilers. This was Kleis' second goal of the season.

The Oilers out-shot the Panthers 20 to 12, with nine shots on goal to Kentucky Wesleyan's eight.

Findlay will be back on the pitch this Tuesday, October 24 when they host Ohio Dominican in another G-MAC contest. The match is set to begin at at 3:00PM.
