Oilers Dominate Arrows 3-1

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team hosted the Ursuline Arrows on Thursday, September 6 at 4:00 PM at DeHaven Field. The Oilers handed the Arrows their first loss of the season with a final score of 3-1. The win gives Findlay an improved record of 2-0-1 while Ursuline moves to 2-1-0 on the season.

The Oilers took the lead just two minutes into the match with a goal by sophomore Shannon Marsh. Findlay kept the pressure on by taking three more shots until another goal was scored (10:35) by sophomore Karleigh Clere. Both teams were aggressive on the field, but Findlay was able to outshoot the Arrows 10 to 2 in the first half. The Oilers led 2-0 at the conclusion of the first period. :

The Oilers momentum continued in the second period with a quick goal by freshman Olivia Frank (48:49), which was assisted by a throw in from senior Claire Lasceski. The Arrows made a small comeback with a goal off of a penalty kick (50:02), but were unable to stop the Oilers' intensity.

Junior Anna Money was aggressive in the net and took a hard hit during the first half, but was able to continue by making three saves on the day.

Sophomore Shannon Marsh led the team in shots with six, while senior teammate Megan Kupetz had three. Other shooters for the Oilers were junior Ashley Rings and sophomore Karleigh Clere, who each had two shots a piece.

The Oilers will travel to Painesville, Ohio on Saturday, September 8 to face the Lake Erie College Storm. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference game will begin at 12:00 PM.
