Schnell-McCoy Leads Oilers At GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay women's swimming and diving team completed the first day of the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship on Wednesday, February 9 in Jenison, Michigan. They are currently in fourth place with 43 points.

Nikki Schnell-McCoy led the Oilers during the opening day of competition as she was a part of two NCAA "B" standard times.

Schnell-McCoy finished ninth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a school record-breaking time of 10:41.63 and teamed with Ailsa Hershaw, Jillian Herbst and Emily Thomas to take fifth in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:46.34 as both times were "B" cuts.

Mallory Ament also finished 11th in the 1000-yard freestyle at 10:46.18, also a "B" standard.

Wayne State University is currently leading on the women's side with 112 points.

The Oilers will compete again tomorrow at the GLIAC Championship.
