Oilers Defeat Ohio Wesleyan
The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming teams competed against Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, January 21 in Sink Natatorium. The women's team won 124-99 while the men's team fell 128-61.
On the women's side, Nikki Schnell-McCoy and Ailsa Hershaw each had a hand in three wins apiece to lead the squad.
Schnell-McCoy won the 1000-yard freestyle in school record-breaking fashion at 10:56.33, was first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.15) and teamed with Tanya Tikhonova, Jill Herbst and Emily Thomas to capture top honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.53).
Hershaw meanwhile won the 400-yard IM (4:42.22), was first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.43) and was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.81).
Tikhonova added a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle after crossing the line in 1:58.28, Thomas had a gold in the 100-yard freestyle at 54.56 and Maddie Bell won both the 1-meter (235.50) and 3-meter (220.81) dives.
On the men's side, Tim Andersson-Lind took home top honors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.57) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.17).
David Conti also had a pair of first place finishes, taking home top honors in the 400-yard IM (4:30.45) and 200-yard backstroke (2:07.37).
John Bogart added a top finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, winning the event in 2:22.58.
The Oilers will be back in action again on January 28-29 at Wayne State University.
