Oilers Place 2nd At Ohio Wesleyan Invite

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, January 21 in Delaware, Ohio. The women's team placed second with 364 points while the men's team finished fourth with 234.5 points.

The men were led by Colton Sayers, who won in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.35. Freshman Ryan Randall finished second in the 500 free (4:55.75) while teammate David Vittori took third in the 200 free (1:47.51).

Diego Santos grabbed third place finishes in both the 100 backstroke (54.53) and 200 backstroke (2:01.73). Santos, Tim Andersson-Lind, David Soutoul, and Colton Brauning finished third in the 200 medley relay (1:40.25).

The combined efforts of Vittori, Santos, Randall, and Soutoul took first in the 800 free relay (7:14.62) while Sayers, along with Andersson-Lind, Brauning, and David Conti placed third in the event with a time of 7:38.46.

Molly Cade won the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.05 as well as aiding the 800 freestyle relay with a second place finish (8:01.90) alongside Ailsa Hershaw, Annie Currin, and Emily Thomas.

Hershaw snatched two second places individually in the 400 IM (4:44.46) and 200 breaststroke (2:32.96). Currin finished second in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.71.

Oiler Jillian Herbst took second in the 100 fly (1:00.58) and fellow junior Tanya Tikhonova placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:12.94). Tikhonova, Hershaw, Cade, and freshman Isadora Yanez generated a silver finish with a time of 1:53.65. Mallory Ament finished second in the 500 free (5:24.99).

Findlay diver Maddie Bell took first in the 1 meter dive (239.25) and second in the 3 meter dive (196.27), while Ashleigh Weddington won the 3 meter dive (219.15) and placed second in the 1 meter dive (198.38).

The Oilers will be back in action on Friday, January 27 when Findlay hosts Wayne State at 6 p.m. in Sink Natatorium.
