Oilers Knock Off Quakers 124-79
The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams both defeated Wilmington College on Saturday, January 28 in Wilmington, Ohio. The women's team won 124-79 while the men were victorious by a score of 103-75.
The men's team was led by David Vittori who won three events. Vittori won the 800 Free (9:19.00), 200 Free (2:03.46) and 400 Free (4:22.80).
Colton Brauning was victorious in both 50 Free (24.72) and 100 Free (56.60) while David Soutoul took first in the 200 IM (2:18.95). Teammate Colton Sayers finished first in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:00.84.
Oiler Diego Santos won the 100 Backstroke (59.82) and aided the 200 Free Relay in a first place finish (1:42.54) alongside of Soutoul, Brauning and Tim Andersson-Lind
On the women's side, Molly Cade paced the women's team with wins in the 50 Free (28.80) and 200 Fly (2:27.09). Annie Currin finished first in both the 800 Free (9:51.41) and 100 Breast (1:25.81) while teammate Ailsa Hershaw came out victorious in both the 200 Free (2:18.62) and the 200 IM (2:18.62).
Findlay's Emily Thomas won the 400 Free (4:49.80) and Isadora Yanez placed first in the 200 Backstroke (2:29.33). Tanya Tikhonova came out on top of the 100 Free with a time of 1:03.48. The combined efforts of Thomas, Yanez, Kate Fisher, and Jill Herbst led to a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (2:08.07).
The woman's diving squad competed at the Wayne State Diving Invitational in Detroit, Michigan. Bell placed seventh on both the 1 meter (342.00) and 3 meter (338.10) dives.
The Oilers will be participating in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in Grandville, Michigan, starting on Wednesday, February 8th, at 5 p.m.
