Oilers Complete Day 1 At Ball State

The University of Findlay swimming and diving teams completed the first day of the Doug Coers Invitational, hosted by Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, on Friday, Nov. 16. Both men and women's teams are in third place after today's events, with the women's team trailing Grand Valley State University by 39 points.

The women's 400 medley relay team, consisting of Emily Thomas, Kaley Holmstrom, Molly Cade and Annie Currin, took third with a time of 4:04.90. Currin, Cade, Thomas and Ailsa Hershaw captured third in the 200 free relay (1:42.16).

Currin snagged a third place finish in the 500 free (5:15.72) and Holmstrom crossed the line at 2:14.34 in the 200 IM for sixth.

In the 50 free, Cade and Thomas took seventh (25.68) and ninth (25.89) place, respectively.

On the men's side, Diego Santos took fourth (2:02.95) in the 200 IM, as David Conti finished eighth (2:07.42) in the same event.

Santos and Conti, along with Garrett Gardner and Colton Sayers placed third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.45. Gardner, Conti, Tim Andersson-Lind and Jay Clinger took bronze in the 400 medley relay (3:55.90).

The Oilers will return to the pool tomorrow, November 17, to cap off the 2012 Doug Coers Invitational in Muncie, Ind.
