Oiler Women Place Fourth While The Men Place Seventh At The Clavin Winter Invite

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the final day of the Calvin Winter Invitational at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, December 7.  The women captured fourth place with 478 points while the men placed seventh with 188 points. 

On the women's side, Kaley Holmstrom took second place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.71), but set a school record in the preliminary round at 2:06.92.  Holmstrom also took third place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.98), but set another school record in the preliminary round at 2:18.22.  Holmstrom's times in both events qualify as B standards. 

Ailsa Hershaw took fourth place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.11) and seventh place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.62).  Holmstrom and Hershaw teamed with Emily Annen and Jessica Ward to take fourth place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.41. 

Ward took third place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.64) while Hannah Schreiber took eighth place (2:12.53) and Marissa McDonald took ninth place (2:10.87).  Ward also took eighth place in the 100-yard freestyle (56.00). 

Annen took seventh place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.80 while Annie Currin took tenth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.88.    

The relay team of Annen, Currin, Holmstrom and Schreiber took tenth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:44.82. 

Ashleigh Weddington took third place on the one meter board with a score of 354.60 and she took fourth place on the three meter board with a score of 379.65.

On the men's side, Todo Djurovic took eighth place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.98.  Djurovic also took eighth place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.04) and he teamed with Clay Fogle, Aaron Mitchell and Nick Kaftan to take twelfth place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.86.  Mitchell took fourteenth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.71. 

The Oilers return to action on December 13 when they face Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
