4 New School Records Set As Oilers Complete Day 2 of GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed day 2 of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) conference championship on Thursday, February 13 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.  After completing day 2 the women are in fourth place while the men are in seventh. 

On the women's side, Molly Cade took fifth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.54 while Jessica Ward placed ninth (57.94) and Emily Annen twelfth (58.68).  Cade's fifth place finish set a new school record and qualified as an NCAA "B" standard.

Kaley Holmstrom took third place in the 400-yard individual medley (4:29.14) while Ailsa Hershaw took fifth place (4:29.83).  Both of their times qualified for an NCAA "B" standard.

The relay team of Annen, Hannah Schreiber, Marissa McDonald and Annie Currin took seventh place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.29).  The relay team of Ward, Holmstrom, Cade and Hershaw took fourth place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:47.66).  Their fourth place finish set a new school record and qualified for an NCAA "B" standard.  Also, Ward's lead off leg in the 100-yard backstroke set a new school record (56.16).

On the men's side, Todo Djurovic took fourth place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:58.18.  His fourth place finish set a new school record and qualified as an NCAA "B" standard. 

The relay team of Clay Fogle, Ian Kochheiser, Garrett Gardner and Colton Sayers took sixth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:28.82) while the relay team of Gardner, Matthew Sheehan, Aaron Mitchell and Cody Craig took seventh place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:37.90). 

The Oilers will continue tomorrow and wrap up the GLIAC championship on Saturday.
