4 New School Records Set As Oilers Complete Day 3 of GLIAC Championship
The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the third day of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship on Friday, February 14 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. After completing day 3 the women are in fifth place while the men are in seventh.
On the women's side, Molly Cade took second place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.40) while Kyleigh Rubis took 13th (2:14.26). Cade's second place finish set a new school record and qualified for an NCAA "B" standard.
Kaley Holmstrom, who set a new school record in the preliminary round of the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.73), finished fifth in the finals with a time of 1:03.76. Her fifth place finish qualified for an NCAA "B" standard. Ailsa Hershaw placed 12th in the same event with a time of 1:05.94.
Jessica Ward took third place in the 100-yard backstroke (56.20) while Marissa McDonald placed fourteenth (59.01). Ward's third place finish qualified for an NCAA "B" standard. Annie Currin took eighth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.08.
The relay team of McDonald, Corrina Talamo, Kate Fisher and Kacie Miller took seventh place in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:18.42.
On the men's side, Todo Djurovic took seventh place and set a new school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.55 while Matthew Sheehan placed 14th (1:04.04) and Andrew Rickabaugh 15th (1:08.13).
Colton Sayers took 12th place in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.33) while Aaron Mitchell placed 15th (1:59.39) and Marshall Hull 16th (2:14.68).
The relay team of Djurovic, Cody Craig, Clay Fogle and Nick Kaftan took fifth place in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:55.97. Their fifth place finish set a new school record.
The Oilers will conclude the GLIAC championship tomorrow.
