Oilers Set 2 New School Records On Final Day of GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the final day of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship on Saturday, February 15 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.  The women finished in fifth place while the men finished in seventh. 

On the women's side, Jessica Ward took second place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.48) while Marissa McDonald placed fourteenth (2:08.25).  Ward's second place finish qualified for an NCAA "B" standard.

Kaley Holmstrom took sixth place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.86) while Ailsa Hershaw placed eleventh (2:22.47).  Holmstrom's sixth place finish qualified for an NCAA "B" standard. 

Annie Currin took tenth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:47.25.  Her tenth place finish set a new school record. 

The relay team of Hershaw, Molly Cade, Currin and Ward took fifth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.13. 

On the men's side, Todo Djurovic took ninth place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.14) while Matthew Sheehan placed sixteenth (2:28.09).  Djurovic's ninth place finish set a new school record. 

The relay team of Cody Craig, Djurovic, Clay Fogle and Nick Kaftan took sixth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:09.12. 

The Oilers return to the pool on February 22 when the face Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio.
