Alvarado Named G-MAC Player of the Year

All-Conference Team

Junior Laiying Alvarado was named the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year on April 22 for her performance during the 2020-21 campaign.

Alvarado, who was also a first team all-conference pick, went 9-0 for the Oilers in match play at No. 1 singles and also finished with an 8-3 record in No. 1 doubles action.

Junior Luciana Pereyra was also voted first team after going 7-4 in No. 2 singles while posting a 7-3 mark in double competition.

Senior Samantha Sweet and junior Cristina Nieto Soto were also rewarded by the conference as they earned second team all-league honors.

Sweet posted three wins in singles action while Soto racked up seven victories.
