Oilers Complete Buckeye Tune-Up

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team completed the Buckeye Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 15 in Columbus, Ohio.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Michael Travis, Tim Sanders, Dillon Webster and Kyle Smithey placed third with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:14.89. Individually, Sanders took first in the 60-meter hurdles event with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.02, while Webster placed first in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:20.03.

Sanders and Travis then took third and sixth with NCAA provisional qualifying times of 22.41 and 22.60, respectively, while Jacob Hayes placed third in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:35.41, and Justin Eilerman finished fifth in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:20.86.

In men's field events, Taylor Miller placed second in the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 58'10.00, while teammates Marcus Vicars and Darren Bass took fourth and fifth with NCAA provisional marks of 57'00.25 and 54'11.25, respectively.

In the triple jump, Darren Johnson and Colin Thomas took third and fourth with NCAA provisional qualifying marks of 47'00.75 and 46'10.00, respectively. Johnson also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 22'11.25.

On the women's side, Jessica Rowland took first in the weight throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 68'08.00, while Kendra Averesch placed first in the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 46'01.50.

Lydia Guagenti and Laura Kelly finished second and fourth in the high jump with marks of 5'04.25 and 5'00.25, respectively.

In women's running events, Kayla Sendelbach placed second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:07.12, while Maud Sanmiquel took fifth in the 600-meter dash (1:40.07), and Alexa Stults finished sixth in the 800-meter run (2:21.32).

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow for the Kent State Tune-Up.
