#4 Men's and #18 Women's Track Teams Wrap Up Event In Toledo

The University of Findlay men's and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the Toledo Collegiate Challenge on Saturday, March 30 in Toledo, Ohio.

The fourth-ranked men's squad was led by Derrick Vicars, who earned two first place finishes on the second day.

Vicars placed first in the shot put with a NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 18.72 meters.  He also took first place in the discus with a NCAA provisional toss of 52.43 meters.

Dillon Webster added a first place finish in the 400-meter with a time of 48.60 and also teamed with John Guagenti, Tim Sanders and Michel Travis to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:13.37, a NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Sanders took first in the 400-meter hurdles with a provisional time of 53.01, Corey Shank was second in the pole vault with a provisional leap of 5 meters and Glen Forsythe was second in the triple jump at 14.29 meters.

Taylor Miller achieved a NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 18.10 meters in the shot put, placing second in the process, while Marcus Vicars was third in the same event with a provisional mark of 16.92 meters.

Tim Majoy added a third place finish in the 5000-meter run at 15:00.17, Jacob Hayes was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.54 and Colin Thomas was fourth in the triple jump at 13.87 meters.

Darren Bass was sixth in the shot put at 15.78 meters, Miller was sixth in the discus at 46.19 meters and Marcus Vicars was seventh in the same event at 44.99 meters.

Maud Sanmiquel led the #18 women's squad with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:04.38 and also added a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.50.  She also teamed with Shelby Stump, Christine Zimmermann and Kirsten Gaerke to take fifth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:53.26.

Lydia Guagenti added a third place finish in the high jump at 1.55 meters while Kendra Averesch was third in the shot put after tossing a 14.75 meter provisional heave.

Erica Bettac also finished sixth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at 7:48.43.

Pam Showman added a sixth place finish in the heptathlon with 4,556 points at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The total was good enough for a new school record as well as a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

The Oilers will be back at it again on April 5-6 at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
