The University of Findlay track and field team had multiple throwers compete at the Cardinal Twilight Classic on Friday, May 10 in Louisville, Ky.

Derrick Vicars showed why he is one of the best in the nation with a first place, NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 62'09.50 in the shot put, a second place, NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 179'11 in the discus, as well as a fourth place, NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 200'00 in the hammer.

In all, the men had four top eight finishers in the shot put, including a third place, NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 60'08.75 from Taylor Miller. Marcus Vicars and Darren Bass each had provisional qualifying marks as well. Marcus Vicars finished sixth (55'09.00) while Bass took seventh (55'05.00).

For the women, Jessica Rowland won the hammer throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 191'03, and took seventh in the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 145'10.

Kendra Averesch placed third in the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 47'05.00.
