Oilers Wrap Up Day 2 at Bellarmine Invitational
The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams competed on Day 2 of the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville, KY on Saturday, April 5th.
Sophomore Maud Sanmiquel competed in the women 400 meter hurdle invite and won with an NCAA provisional time of 1:01.59. Sanmiquel also competed in the women's 100 meter hurdles. She earned a fifth place finish with her time of 14.90. Also in the event was junior Pam Showman. She took seventh with a 15.29.
The Oilers got a first place finish from sophomore Lydia Guagenti who competed in the women's javelin throw. Her toss distanced 119'09". Also in the event was Showman and she took fourth with a throw of 99'05".
Junior Kendra Averesch competed in the women's shot put invite and took second place with a throw of 47'11.25. The throw was good enough to meet the NCAA provisional mark. She also took part in the discus throw and earned second place with a throw of 130'11".
In the women's discus throw invite, an NCAA provisional mark was met by freshman Alex Devincentis. She took fifth place with a throw of 143'08.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Sanmiquel, freshman Kadesha Roberts, junior Shelby Stump, and freshman Adrianna Powell-Lawrence took third place with a time 3:50.67.
Stump placed second in the women's 400 meter dash with a time of 57.93. In the same race, junior Kirsten Gaerke ran a 58.64, good enough for sixth place. Roberts also did well in the race as she took seventh place with her time of 59.68.
Powell-Lawrence competed in the women's 400 meter hurdles and took second place with a time of 1:05.99.
Sophomore Erica Bettac earned a fifth place finish in the women's 800 meter run with her time of 2:18.78.
In the women's 1500 meter run, sophomore Samantha Grippe ran a 4:48.75, earning her fifth.
Senior Alexa Stults took third place in the women's 5000 meter run with her time of 18:22.00.
Freshman Taylor Allen earned fifth place in the women's pole vault as she soared to a height of 10'06.00.
In women's shot put, freshman Liz Streaker took fourth place with a toss of 39'00.50.
Freshman Alexander Zolotoglavy brought home a first place finish for the men as he competed and won in the men's long jump. He jumped to a meet record distance of 23'04.50. Close behind was freshman Derek Collins who took second with a jump of 22'08.00.
In the men's discus throw invite, junior Justin Welch took second place with a throw of 173'06". This throw met the NCAA provisional mark in the event. Teammate senior Marcus Vicars took fifth with his toss of 157'10". Freshman Ben Hahler took sixth place as he threw the discus to a distance of 156'11".
Sophomore Kyle Smithey took fourth place in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.72.
In the men's discus throw, freshman Mitch Adkins took fifth place with a throw of 145'00".
Senior Justin Eilerman took sixth place in the 800 meter run with a 1:57.48.
The teams are back in action next weekend as they travel to Cincinnati, OH for the All-Ohio Championship.
