Findlay Finishes Day 2 of All-Ohio Championships

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their weekend with Day 2 competitions being held at the All-Ohio Track and Field Championships held at the University of Cincinnati and the Don Kleinow Memorial Meet in Adrian, MI.

Women:                                       

Junior Kendra Averesch took second place in the shot put with her toss of 15.72m. This throw earned Averesch an automatic trip to the NCAA National Championship meet and also broke her own school record.

Junior Pam Showman earned a fourth place finish in the heptathlon with 4920 points. This mark meets the NCAA provisional for the event and also sets a new school record. Her highest finish came in the javelin throw where she took fourth with a throw of 34.61m.

In the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Maud Sanmiquel raced to a time of 14.67. This time was good enough for a fourth place finish. She also competed in the 400 meter hurdles and took third place with a time of 1:02.70.

Sophomore Erica Bettac ran well as she took fourth place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:46.37.

The Oilers 4x400 relay squad of Sanmiquel, freshman Kadesha Roberts, junior Shelby Stump, and freshman Adrianna Powell-Lawrence took fifth place with their time of 3:52.61.

Freshman Alex DeVincentis competed in the discus throw and earned eighth with a hurl of 41.43m.

As a team, the women placed ninth of 15 teams.

Men:

Fresh off an incredible performance in the hammer throw, senior Justin Welch earned an NCAA provisional in the discus throw with his third place toss of 51.48m.

Senior Marcus Vicars met an NCAA provisional in the shot put as he threw the shot 16.64m. This toss earned him a fourth place finish. Freshman Ben Hahler also competed in the event and finished in sixth with a toss of 15.87m.

Junior Jacob Miller competed in the decathlon and took sixth place. He had first place finishes in the 400 meter run and the 1500 meter run.

As a team, the men finished seventh of 16 teams.

The teams are back on the track next weekend, April 18th and 19th as they return to Columbus for the Jesse Owens Classic held at The Ohio State University.
