Oilers Compete at Penn Relays

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams sent athletes to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. for three days of competition that will run from Thursday, April 24th through Saturday, April 26th.  The meet plays host to over 100,000 fans annually over the duration of the event, including an expected crowd of more than 40,000 on Saturday. Over 15,000 athletes from high schools, colleges, and track clubs throughout the United States and abroad gather to compete in the most prestigious meet in the nation.

In the women's 4x400 meter relay, Findlay's team composed of junior Maud Sanmiquel, freshman Kadesha Roberts, junior Shelby Stump, and freshman Adrianna Powell-Lawrence ran a time of 3:53.85, a time that placed them in 51st in the event.

Junior Kendra Averesch competed for the Oilers in the women's shot put and finished in 12th place with a throw of 13.90m (45'7.25").

Findlay has athletes competing in five events tomorrow, Friday, April 25th, the first of which features junior Justin Welch in the discus throw at 9:00am.
