Oilers Complete Meets at Penn and Ashland

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams sent competitors to Ashland and the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 26.  The group was led by Justin Welch, who won the hammer throw at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.

Welch won the hammer throw by 20 feet as his NCAA automatic qualifying toss traveled 231'06. It was also the tenth best throw in the history of the prestigious Penn Relays.

At Ashland, DeVincentis took third in the discus with a heave of 154'09 while Erica King placed third in the hammer throw at 171'05.

Alexa Stults finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.60 and Lydia Guagenti was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5'03 for the women.

Derek Spindler placed fifth in the pole vault at 14'06 while Marcus Vicars placed fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 179'06.

Parker Schroeder added a fifth place finish in the discus at 151'09.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 30 for the first day of the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Geneva, Ohio.
