Oilers Snap Losing Streak, Sweep Lakers 3-0
The University of Findlay volleyball team snapped a five-match losing streak as they defeated Lake Superior State University 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-16) on Saturday, October 9 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The victory gives the Oilers a n 8-8 record on the season with a 4-6 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Junior Jessica VonIns and freshman Danielle Taflinger led the way with ten kills apiece.
Taflinger hit .667 (10-15) on the day while VonIns added 17 assists in the win.
Senior Abby LaVigne and red-shirt freshman Bethany Hoelscher each tallied seven kills to aid the Oilers offense.
Senior Megan Florence led the team in assists with 19 while junior Rachael Hammond registered a team-high ten digs.
The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they face Northwood University at 2:00 p.m. in Midland, Michigan.
