Volleyball sweeps Tiffin

The women's volleyball team got back in the win column with a 3-0 sweep of GLIAC rival Tiffin on Saturday afternoon.

Findlay came out swinging in set one, posting a .429 hitting percentage with 16 kills and just two errors in set one en route to a 26-24 win. The Dragons swung the momentum in their favor early in set two, jumping out to a 14-9 lead before Megan Florence stepped behind the serving line and rattled off six service points to give Findlay a 16-14 lead. The Oilers closed out the second set, but needed extra points to do so, 27-25.

The Oilers started the third set strong with a 4-0 run of service points from Rachael Hammond. The Dragons even the score at eight and the rest of the set featured five more lead changes before Findlay closed out the set 26-24.

Jessica VonIns swung for eleven kills, dished out 15 assists and served two aces. Bethany Hoelscher added nine kills. Findlay out-dug Tiffin 45-42 behind a strong defensive effort from Erin Thomasson and Jacqui Endre, who had 17 and 11 digs respectively.

Tiffin got its firepower from Danielle McQuade, who led all hitters with 14 kills. Lindsay Heller had two aces and 12 digs for the Dragons.

The Oilers improve to 11-12 (5-9 GLIAC) on the season with the win, while Tiffin falls to 11-11 (7-5 GLIAC). Findlay hits the road next week with matches at Ashland on Friday and Lake Erie College on Sunday.
