Volleyball drops 3-1 decision to Saginaw

The women's volleyball team suffered its second straight loss this weekend, dropping a 3-1 match to Saginaw Valley State.

Saginaw took the first match behind a .257 hitting performance, winning 25-19. Findlay responded with intensity in the second set, topping the Cardinals 26-24.

The Oilers came out strong in set three and used five service aces from Bethany Hoelscher, but Findlay committed ten hitting errors in the set and let the Cardinals pull away down the stretch for a 25-21 win.

The Cardinals took set four 25-20 to close out the match. Saginaw improves to 6-4 on the year (4-2 GLIAC) and Findlay drops to 7-5 (3-3 GLIAC).

Annie Buxton led Saginaw with 23 kills and 17 digs. Setter Sam Breault dished out 43 assists.

Junior Jessica VonIns led Findlay with 11 kills and Abby LaVigne had 14 digs. Setter Megan Florence finished with three aces.

The Oilers look to close out the weekend with a win on Sunday, when Ferris State comes to Croy Gym for a 2 p.m. match.
