Oilers drop five-set thriller

The women's volleyball team dropped a hotly-contested match on Friday, falling in five sets to visiting Ohio Dominican University.

The Panthers used a nine-point push in set one to jump out to an early lead and close out the set 25-16. Findlay responded and took set two 25-21 before dropping set three 25-16.

In a must-win set four, Findlay played with confidence and again topped Ohio Dominican 25-21. The Panthers weren't finished though, and came back in set five to seal the win 15-12.

Ohio Dominican got 19 kills from freshman Ashley Sprau and 11 from Summer Hale. Libero Stacy Rogg tallied 25 digs to lead all players.

Findlay middle blocker Danielle Taflinger was the most prolific hitter of the night, finishing with 24 kills. Jessica VonIns was second with 16.

Freshman Jacqui Endre dug 13 balls for the Oiler defense and Rachael Hammond had eight digs and three aces.

The win moves Ohio Dominican to 7-12 on the season (2-9 GLIAC). Findlay drops to 10-12 (4-10 GLIAC). The Oilers resume play tomorrow when GLIAC rival Tiffin comes to town for a 4 p.m. match at Croy Gymnasium.
