Oilers Picked to Finish 9th in the GLIAC

The University of Findlay volleyball team was picked to finish ninth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season as the league office unveiled their annual preseason poll on Monday, Aug. 27.

The Oilers earned 115 points in the poll as Ferris State University was tabbed as the favorite, receiving 211 points and ten first place votes.

Findlay finished last season with a 15-12 record, which included a 9-10 mark in the GLIAC.  The Oilers ended the season on a high note, winning ten out of their last 11 matches and will look to ride that momentum into the 2012 campaign.

Junior Danielle Taflinger returns to lead the team after being named second team all-conference as a sophomore.  Taflinger, who was also an honorable mention all-Midwest Region pick, totaled 264 kills with a .360 hitting percentage, the fifth best mark in the conference.

Junior Mackenzie Vorst also returns after leading the team with 305 kills in 2011.  An honorable mention all-conference selection as a sophomore, Vorst also tallied 166 digs, 36 aces and 44 blocks last year.
