#8 Indianapolis Sweeps Oilers 3-0

The University of Findlay volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 22-25) loss at home to #8 Indianapolis as they completed the Findlay Classic on Saturday, Sep. 8 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers, who fell to 3-4 with the loss, were led by junior Mackenzie Vorst, who tallied seven kills in the match.

Senior Maggie Naayers and junior Danielle Taflinger added five kills apiece as the Oilers shot themselves in the foot with 18 hitting errors, eight serving errors and six receiving errors during the contest.

Sophomore Amanda Calhoun had 18 assists and 11 digs while fellow sophomore Samantha Granger racked up five kills in the loss.

The Greyhounds won the tournament with a 3-1 record as Kristina Kerrigan was honored as the tourney MVP.

Wheeling Jesuit's Makenzie Ripley earned the outstanding libero award while Indy's Megan Binkerd, Wheeling Jesuit's Jenna Pen, Cal (Pa.) Brandy Harris, Wayne State's Lindsey Graciak, Hillsdale's Bekah Draves and the Oilers Danielle Taflinger each earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

The Oilers will return to the court on Sep. 14 to host Ashland University in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
