Oilers Fall Short at Wayne State, Lose 3-1

The University of Findlay volleyball team lost 3-1 (25-20, 12-25, 21-25, 15-25) to Wayne State University on Tuesday, Sep. 18 in Detroit, Mich.  The loss gives the Oilers a 4-6 record on the season with a 1-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Senior Maggie Naayers and junior Mackenzie Vorst led the Oilers with ten kills apiece while junior Danielle Taflinger added seven.

Sophomore Amanda Calhoun tallied 28 assists while juniors Brittany Hall and Jacqui Endre reached double digits in digs with 13 each.

The Oilers racked up 37 total kills in the match, but tallied 38 hitting errors.

The Oilers will be back on the court again this weekend when they host Lake Superior State University and Saginaw Valley State University.  The Oilers will play the Lakers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and then host the Cardinals on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
