The University of Findlay volleyball team lost their first two contests while competing in the 2012 GLIAC/GLVC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Great Lakes Valley Conference) Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois. Findlay is now 8-10 for the 2012 campaign.

Against Rockhurst University, the Oilers started strong with a 25-16 win in set one. However, Findlay quickly lost momentum from their victory and fell 18-25, 18-25, and 9-25 in the following three sets.

The Oilers were paced by sophomore Amanda Calhoun, who racked up 36 assists, 13 digs and seven kills.

Senior Maggie Naayers led the team with ten kills while juniors Mackenzie Vorst and Danielle Taflinger both had nine kills.

Junior Jacqui Endre tallied 21 digs and senior Andrea Holthaus generated four blocks for the Oilers.

In the second match of the day the Oilers lost to the Cardinals of William Jewell College with scores of 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, and 17-25.

Naayers and Taflinger led the team with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Sophomore Samantha Granger chipped in with nine kills.

Calhoun paced the Oilers with 37 assists.

Endri added 12 digs in the contest as both Calhoun and Holthaus contributed three blocks each for Findlay.

The Oilers return to action tomorrow in Aurora, Ill. with a match at 2:00 PM against Bellarmine for their final game at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament.
