Oilers Soar Past Eagles, 3-2

The University of Findlay volleyball team upset Ashland Univsersity 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 15-8) in Ashland, Ohio on Saturday, November 10. With the victory over the top team in the GLIAC South Division, Findlay enters the post season with a 10-8 mark in the GLIAC and 14-16 record overall.

After losing the opening set, the Oilers were able to secure the next two games. Despite losing the fourth set, Findlay was able to secure the match with a 15-8 win and a phenomenal hitting percentage of .471 in game five.

Lindsy Reindel led Findlay with 15 kills and six blocks. Andrea Holthaus recorded nine kills with a .500 hitting percentage in addition to her five blocks.

Danielle Taflinger and Maggie Naayers had 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Taflinger added seven blocks in the contest.

Amanda Calhoun recorded a double-double with 44 assists and 13 digs. Becca Shoemaker paced Findlay with 18 digs. Brittany Hall and Jacqui Endre each contributed 12 digs.

The Oilers will start their post season run on Wednesday, November 14, in Midland, Michigan against top-seeded Northwood (17-1, 23-6).
